Diversity and Inclusion

We value a wide variety of viewpoints at Gardere: the more we hear, the more we grow. With a longstanding committee dedicated to diversity and inclusion, we strive to recruit lawyers and support staff from a broad range of backgrounds, cultures and perspectives. We are proud of the efforts we have made to foster diversity, but recognize that it must be actively and continually cultivated. We are committed to improving minority recruiting, enhancing internal mentoring and increasing the business development opportunities available to all of our lawyers.

This commitment starts at the top. A diverse group of lawyers serve in leadership roles in many areas at Gardere, from chair of the Firm to practice group and industry team leaders, and in senior roles in our offices. Strong percentages of women and minority lawyers also serve on key committees, including those for business development, compensation, finance, professional development, recruiting, associates, and diversity.

Gardere recognizes that enhancing the profile and accessibility of law as a career, through recruitment and the developing stages of a lawyer's career, are key components to a meaningful diversity program. Through our program, we have established specific, long-term goals:

  • Improve upon the recruitment of diverse law students and lawyers, and accelerate the growth in recruiting on both fronts.
  • Improve retention of these hires.
  • Enhance the business development opportunities available to women, minority and LGBT lawyers.
  • Increase awareness among all Gardere lawyers of the benefits of increased diversity.
  • Focus on increasing diversity in every office level.
  • Promote Gardere’s image as a Firm committed to diversity within the business and legal communities on a local and national basis.

Specific Community Activities

Gardere was one of the first for-profit enterprises to participate in A Workplace of Difference™ Program, sponsored by the ADL. Each member of the Firm (attorneys/staff) is required to participate in a similar program during his or her first year of employment. The program features seminars on heightened awareness of issues affecting minorities. The Firm also conducts mandatory internal workshops that identify various forms of discrimination that may occur in the workplace. The programs are consistent with our anti-harassment policy as documented in the Firm's Policy and Procedures Manual.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.


AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
