Taking the Pulse of Export Control Reform: How are We Doing?

Gardere Partner Elsa Manzanares, co-chair of the Firm's International Trade Practice, is scheduled to participate in The Knowledge Group's upcoming "Export Controls: Significant Issues for 2014" webcast on July 16. The two-hour live webcast will feature a panel of industry leaders and practitioners discussing the significant and latest issues in the export controls industry. Ms. Manzanares will present "Taking the Pulse of Export Control Reform: How are We Doing?" where she will discuss the practical the practical impact of export control reform on companies, including implementation issues and challenges, the divergent views on the STA license exception, education and training, and open issues and questions.

A leader in the international trade and compliance arena, Ms. Manzanares routinely advises clients on compliance with U.S. and international regulations governing export of dual-use commodities, defense articles, and software and technology, including ITAR, U.S. Export Administration Regulations, U.S. Foreign Trade Regulations, and various embargo and sanctions programs administered by the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Additionally, Ms. Manzanares advises clients on import compliance matters including valuation, classification and country of origin/marking issues, seizures of goods by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and antidumping/countervailing duty matters before the Import Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce and trade litigation in the U.S. Court of International Trade. She also advises clients on compliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and on transactions before the Treasury Department's Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
